Giants prepare for a big World series victory

When we began the 81 for 93 adventure my desire for this fairy tale was a Giants world series victory.

Bert and I made it to Pittsburgh, and Washington DC and we felt privileged to be made welcome in the Giants family. We missed out on the Cardinals series due to my cousins funeral and fundraiser for his 3 kids in Texas. I returned home to find Bert under the weather and he was admitted to the hospital. He was released in time to enjoy a great Cardinals victory. He didn’t feel up to KC trip and is awaiting surgery this Thursday.

I trust he will be fine, but ask for prayers as any surgery especially at 94 has risks. Bert is a trooper and took me to 2 home games.

We witnessed one loss and last night one win. As Bert shared words of wisdom from Clint Hurdle winning is more fun.

The stadium rocked, we met some great Royals fans, and celebrated with people we had spent the regular season on the rollercoaster that was the Giants season.

From the opening ceremony and streamers to the fireworks of the Giants bats it was a game of a lifetime. I just hope the fairy tales ends with Bert healthy and the Giants wearing another ring.

We missed you in Dublin and thought of you often, as we struggled to listen to/watch Giants games in the middle of the night after daytime site seeing and evening theater. Hope you made Sunday night’s game, too. Another wonderful, well-played game. I was so happy to be able to attend all three home games. Best wishes to Bert on his surgery Thursday, and I hope we have a Giants win to give him lots of positive mojo. Our thoughts will be with you. Jeri and Jeff Johnson

Hey Bert and Le Anne- I want to watch the game with you guys tomorrow. We met at the White Sox game this summer. We took photos with my dad and his buddies(Steve, Ken, Bob, Dan). I happen to be in SF this week for work. Please give me a call. I hope you are feeling well Bert. Dan 303-809-1850

Le Anne and Bert: I have been wondering about the lack of recent updates and the reason is now clear. I hope my son Dan can convey the best wishes of Chicago White Sox fans to you and for a very speedy recovery. Dan’s grandfather, Roy, is the same age as Bert. Carpe diem!!!

We are sorry Dan couldn’t join us. Hope our paths will cross next season. Still on cloud 9 after the Mighty Mad Bum makes our fairy tale come true. Bert has surgery at 9 am. Prayers appreciated if you are so inclined.

That is fabulous news. Have a wonderful trip and keep us posted with pictures too. Hope we run into you folks at another Giants game in 2015. We are planning a trip to Seattle in the summer and are going to a Giants/Mariners game in June. Will look for you there…..:-)

We are still wrestling with what our baseball plan is this season. Opening day with Mad Bum on horseback was glorious. Bert went to last nights game and we will be going tonight. We hope the Giants bats u thaw.

Glad to hear from you. Hope your health is great. We’ll be watching for you folks on TV as we watch the games at home. Keeping positive thoughts that the team will start scoring and heal from their injuries soon. I know it’s only April and there’s still lots of time. Have some garlic fries for me…..:-)
